A genuine piece of closed-distillery history, distilled at Trinidad’s Caroni Distillery in 1998 and bottled by Bristol Classic Rum in 2022 after 24 years of maturation.

Caroni was founded in 1918 and became known for producing intensely aromatic, heavy-style Trinidad rum. The distillery closed in the early 2000s, leaving only finite stocks behind. Every surviving bottling now comes from a diminishing reserve of casks that can never be replaced.

This release carries the unmistakable Caroni signature: deep golden colour, restrained oak and a distinctive industrial edge, with notes commonly associated with tar, smoke, dried fruit, spice, dark sugar and oily richness. Bottled at 51.3%, it retains substantial weight and character while remaining composed enough for slow, neat drinking.

This is not simply an old rum. It is a surviving expression of a distillery that no longer exists, selected and bottled by one of Britain’s established independent rum specialists.
