Ballechin 10 Year Old

The peated expression from Edradour Distillery, Ballechin 10 is matured in a combination of ex-Bourbon and ex-Oloroso sherry casks. Aromas of oily malt, gentle barbecue smoke, baked apple and dried fig lead into a rich palate of chewy dates, toasted oak, earthy peat and warming spice. The finish is long and satisfying, with lingering wood smoke and a delicate ash note. Bottled at 46% ABV, without chill filtration or added colouring, it offers a robust, traditional style of peated Highland whisky.

About Ballechin: Named after the long-lost Ballechin Distillery, this heavily peated whisky is produced at Edradour Distillery near Pitlochry. Its style was developed with the expertise of Iain Henderson, former distillery manager at Laphroaig and later caretaker manager at Ardbeg, bringing decades of Islay peating experience to one of Scotland’s smallest traditional distilleries. The result is a distinctive whisky that combines Highland richness with the smoky influence of Islay.

Why the name Ballechin?
Ballechin takes its name from the historic Ballechin Distillery, which operated just a few miles from Edradour between 1810 and 1927. By reviving the name for its peated whisky, Edradour pays tribute to a lost Highland distillery and preserves a small but fascinating piece of Perthshire’s whisky heritage.
